Title: Angel's Pirouette
The Angel Trumpet flower is known for its side view of the white flower trumpeting downward in a graceful profile, flaring out at the bottom. This view is looking up from beneath at the sensual folds and seeing the blue of a California sky glowing through the translucent petals.
For the past few years I've been painting flowers up so close that they envelope the viewer in their sensuality and rich color. Enlarged, they become almost abstractions from nature without seeing the outer shape or the environment around them.
This is an original full sheet watercolor painting by Sandy Haight, a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society. It is framed with white archival mat and backing in a white metal 1" contemporary frame.

Watercolor is my medium. I zoom in and compose from my photos to fill a picture plane with a compelling design that takes the viewer into an abstract and sensual world. I look for beautiful transitions of color or textures that could be expressed luminously with my many glazes of watercolor, or that might provide an opportunity for me to try new painting techniques. I paint the inner landscape of flowers calling these works Floralscapes. The shapes, designs and patterns inside flowers and plants are the subject that awakened my love of painting, giving me a chance to create images of stunning beauty while merging realism with an abstract sense of design.
